The Pipers and Pipe Band Society of Ontario (PPBSO) is a volunteer-driven, non-profit organization serving Highland Bagpipers, Scottish drummers, and Bagpipe bands across the Province of Ontario. Since 1947, The PPBSO has been dedicated to the promotion and development of piping and drumming in the Province and is the governing body overseeing all solo player and pipe band competitions including the North American, Canadian, and Ontario Pipe Band Championship’s amongst many notable others.

The PPBSO is composed of five (5) branches that represent the areas of: Niagara/Hamilton, Ottawa, Toronto, Western Ontario, and Windsor. Individually these branches host their own events and contests throughout the year including The George Sherriff Invitational, The Agnew-Harrison Invitational, The Livingstone Invitational and The Glengarry Cup Invitational respectively.

 

One of seven Canadian Pipe Band Associations, The Pipers and Pipe Band Society of Ontario (PPBSO) extend a formal, accredited system of pipe band contest rules and an established panel of judges. In addition to these formal objectives, the Society also offer financial support to member pipe bands, and makes funds available for individual bands to operate clinics, events, and workshops.
