Dear PPBSO Members,
I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the 128 members who attended this evening's Special General Meeting of The Pipers’ & Pipe Band Society of Ontario (PPBSO). This important meeting was called following our mid-September announcement to ensure that the PPBSO’s governing framework is fully aligned with the Ontario Not-for-Profit Corporations Act (ONCA).
I’m pleased to report that we had an exceptional turnout, with almost three times the participation compared to last year’s Annual General Meeting. Your engagement and support were truly remarkable, especially considering that our board members are volunteers, all working tirelessly to ensure the society’s continued progress.
The discussions were both thoughtful and constructive, with many valuable perspectives shared. I’m happy to announce that all motions required to align with ONCA were overwhelmingly supported by the majority. This marks an important step forward for the PPBSO, helping to modernise our organisation and bring greater clarity and structure to our operations. The changes we’ve adopted will enhance transparency and accountability, as well as foster a stronger connection between the society and its members.
Please find below voting results from the SGM for each of the five resolutions passed. Note: Also attached (below) are each of the resolutions as read.

I would also like to offer my heartfelt thanks to the board, the Governance Committee, our Chair Brad Davidson, and our third-party counsel for their diligent efforts over the past nine months to ensure a smooth transition to this new governance framework.
I look forward to seeing how these positive changes enhance our membership experience moving forwards.
Warm regards,
Andrew Giles
President,
