Two upcoming indoor competitions on May 6 will offer soloists the opportunity to earn Champion Supreme points towards their summer games totals.
The Western Branch will hold its Indoor Games on Saturday, May 6 at Saunders Secondary School in London beginning at 8:30 am. There will be no professional solo events, but all other grades of piping and drumming will be represented. All soloists can receive Champion Supreme points. Band events will also be offered in grades 3, 4 and 5, with bands playing in concert formation rather than the traditional inward-facing circle. A quartet competition will round out the day’s events. Band events will not include Champion Supreme points.
The Ottawa Branch holds its Indoor Games at 8:30 am on the same day at St. Michael’s Catholic High School in Kemptville, just off the 401. A full slate of amateur solo events in piping and drumming also comes with Champion Supreme points. Band events in grades 2-5, a mini-band contest, and a rare drum salute event fills out the day’s agenda. A drumming workshop will also be part of the day. Again, Champion Supreme points will not be offered for bands. Admission is $15 per person.
