The Pipers’ and Pipe Band Society of Ontario (PPBSO) Board and Governance Committee have worked diligently over the past several months to modernise and streamline our governance documents, ensuring compliance with Ontario’s Not-for-Profit Corporations Act (ONCA).
We’ve also completed a comprehensive update to our codes of conduct and competition rules, consolidating multiple policies—including the Expectations of Membership, Harassment & Discrimination, and Discipline policies—into a single, unified PPBSO Code of Conduct. We encourage all members to review the updated PPBSO Code of Conduct here - https://bit.ly/New_Code_of_Conduct.
Drawing on best practices from other piping and pipe band organisations, we’ve created a modern guide that carefully balances member rights and responsibilities, fostering a respectful environment for all.
Additionally, we have renamed the “Rule Book” to the “Competition Rule Book,” which now exclusively addresses competition rules and regulations. This update does not introduce any substantive changes to the existing rules.
To enhance accessibility to The PPBSO’s updated governance documentation, we’ve added a “Documents” tab to the primary navigation on the PPBSO website’s homepage. Going forward, this section will also host minutes from all Board meetings for member reference.
We are proud of the progress we've made to modernise our governance framework. This work reflects our dedication to serving our community with transparency, respect, and accountability.
Regards,
Andrew Giles
President, PPBSO
