The annual summer school of The Pipers’ & Pipe Band Society of Ontario is all set to go!
The PPBSO’s annual school, Summerblast!, will again be presented online Monday, July 4 through to Friday, July 8, 2022. Said Summerblast! director, Bob Worrall, “At last year’s school we welcomed students from all over North America and even one from Europe and their feedback was strongly in favour of the convenience that the online format gives participants”.
Piping instructors include last year’s team of John Cairns, Ken Eller, Michael Grey, Jim McGillivray and Bob Worrall, with the addition this year of Bruce Gandy. On the snare drumming side, we welcome Paul Brown, drumming principal of the Scottish Pipe Band Association’s Pipe Band College, and Jake Jorgensen, lead drummer of Scottish Power Pipe Band. Kahlil Cappunccino, 78th Highlanders Pipe Band, will teach bass and tenor.
The school is presented using the Zoom platform with a format that sees each day beginning at 1000 h (EDT) with two one-hour sessions in the morning and an additional two one-hour sessions in the afternoon.
The school will again feature a number of evening social sessions for all interested students. More information to follow!
Fees for the school remain unchanged from 2021 at $350 CAD for the week. PPBSO members receive a $70 discount ($280 CAD).
An early bird prize is available for all those who sign-up on or before April 30!
Registration is open now. Early registrants (on or before April 30, 2022) will have their name entered in a draw for a prize of one week’s free tuition (meaning their 2022 tuition will be refunded!).
