The PPBSO's Ongoing Lawsuit

Dear PPBSO Members,

As the leadership of the PPBSO, we want to address the ongoing situation that many of you are aware of. We understand that without access to the full scope of information, it’s natural to have questions or concerns. However, we ask for your patience as we navigate this complex matter responsibly and with all due care.

Sheldon Inkol, a partner at Blaney McMurtry LLP, has been retained through our insurer to defend the PPBSO and its directors. Mr. Inkol has a reputation for successfully handling complex cases. His track record includes numerous wins at the Ontario Court of Appeal and opposition to applications for leave to the Supreme Court of Canada. More information about Mr. Inkol can be found here https://www.blaney.com/lawyers/Sheldon-Inkol

We will continue to manage this situation through the legal process, not in the court of public opinion. While we understand the desire for immediate answers, we trust that the judicial system will lead to a fair and favourable outcome. The Board remains confident that we have adhered to proper procedures in all of our actions and that we acted in good faith throughout.

Regarding our relationship with the Kincardine Scottish Festival, we acknowledge that there is more to the story than what has been reported. We anticipate being able to share additional details at the appropriate time, subject to legal advice.

We understand that the wheels of justice turn slowly and that this can be frustrating. We appreciate your patience and continued support as this matter moves forward. Rest assured, we will share more information when we are legally able to do so.

Lastly, we want to thank all of you who voted in favour of the resolutions at the recent Special General Meeting. Your vote was a clear signal of support for the work this Board has undertaken, and we are deeply grateful.

In closing, we are thankful for your trust and understanding during this time. Your patience and belief in the Board’s ability to guide the PPBSO through these challenges are not only appreciated but essential to the continued strength of our Society.

Sincerely,

Andrew Giles

President,

Pipers’ and Pipe Band Society of Ontario (PPBSO)
